Firefox wants to disable AVG Safe Search--that's my security system
AVG Safe Search 10.0.0.1390 is my security system. Why should I let you disable it?

AVG Safe Search will be re-enabled as soon as AVG tests it with Firefox 6 and marks it compatible. You can also re-enable it yourself by installing the Add-on Compatibility Reporter. For instructions, see this page: Re-enable add-ons that were disabled when updating Firefox
Firefox has its own safe browsing feature that provides the same protection as AVG Safe Search, and it will still use AVG to scan files for viruses, so you will still be protected even if the Safe Search add-on is disabled. (In fact, Firefox will probably be faster with the add-on disabled.) For details about Firefox's built-in safe browsing, see this page.
AVG protects me with Internet Explorer plus provides protection on our internal network. If I disable it for the benefit of Fire Fox, have I then left myself exposedunder the other programs?
Try Checking Update for AVG from the System Tray icon, see the Attached Screenshot. Check and tell if its working.

I think ,SafeBrowser, that your answer is ok, but I go to the place and there is a list of different nine program updates. What do I install? I have a 32-bit system. Thank you.
Can you Copy/Paste the list of different nine program updates here ?? We might be able to tell you which updates you should install.

I uptdated my AVG antivirus but is useless. There is some incompatibility problem.
Close All Web Browsers. Then Update AVG. IF it doesn't work, Update ALL AVG Products list mentioned here:
Check and tell if its working.

I cannot see any indication where it is said that these updates are for AVG free version. Perhaps I must write AVG a message. Thank you.
xenaxana Did you try right-click AVG icon and select Update Now ??
That is the most appropriate method of Updating AVG since we don't when was the last time you updated your AVG or which definitions have already been updated.
But if you are unable to use the right-click AVG icon and select Update Now method, Download all the updates (in a New Folder) mentioned in this link:
When all downloads are complete, Download the AVG Antivirus 2011 Manual
and use Update AVG from Folder feature to Install AVG Updates from a folder that contains AVG Updates files.
Check and tell if its working.
CLOSE ALL WEB BROWSERS BEFORE INSTALLING THE AVG UPDATES

mha 007 , I clicked that AVG icon but it is useless. In fact, I have clicked it several times every day since I have this problem. "Important notice for AVG Free Users: The listed program updates should NOT be used for the AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition". Those phrases are written where you have sent me. And my edition of AVG is the free one. So, I do not understand that warning on the page. Why does the page say that?

I just chatted with AVG Tech Help. They have confirmed that AVG Safe Search is still NOT compatible with Firefox 6 yet, only the AVG Toolbar is.
They are working on it right now and will release the next update once it is done.

Thank you very much, silkphoenix. I suspected that, but I was not sure, because I have some friends with the same problem and they have not been able to solve it. The problem is caused by AVG in this case. I appreciate your help.
