I have the same problem with Firefox 3.6.6 except that it also consumes massive amounts of CPU while running. Also this version adds a brand new process to your system. I'm running XP and at first I tried disabling certain plug-ins. Still consumed too much memory. I reverted back to version 3.6 and the new process is gone, and CPU consumption is way down. Something is wrong with the latest version of Firefox, I've never seen it behave this way. Go back to an older version (Filehippo) and you will see the difference.
