Hi, I use thunderbird 140.6.0 esr for Linux (Debian 12 with KDE 5). After opening Thunderbird, I am asked for the password to retrieve mail. If I make a mistake when typing it in, I have no chance to correct the password and have to restart TB. There is a correction window for the SENT password.

You should be prompted again when you try to send a message.

Hi Ed, when I enter an incorrect password during sending, Thunderbird gives me the opportunity to correct it. However, this no longer works in some versions when retrieving emails. A message is constantly displayed stating that the password was incorrect, but I am not given the opportunity to change this incorrect password. Regards Klaus

Try removing the entry for that account in the Password Manager - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/password-manager-remember-delete-change-tb/.
