How should I choose between using Tab Groups and Profiles? What problems is each trying to solve?

Hi,

You don't have to choose. Tab groups let you organize your tabs while not affecting your data. Profiles (with a brand-new manager) separate your bookmarks, passwords, settings and browsing data, so that you can keep work and personal browsing separate, test different setups, or share your computer with others. You can think of profiles as stand-alone Firefox instances, which don't require you to actually perform several installations.

How to I move tabs from a browser window in one profile to the browser window of another profile. Both browser windows are open on my (windows 11) desktop. Dragging and dropping doesn't work.

Hi Nico,

You'd better ask a new question for that, but I suppose that's not what profiles are intended for. As I said above, you can treat profiles as stand-alone Firefox instances. Particularly, they have separated cookies, so moving a tab would not make much sense. You can copy the URL and open it in a different profile, though.
