I have multiple e-mail accounts set up in Thunderbird including two different Fastmail accounts. All of them continue to work fine, but I keep seeing a pop-up window asking me to log into Fastmail. I just close the window but it re-opens a few minutes later. The account continues to work in Thunderbird fine.

This happens for only one of my two Fastmail accounts. The account has been set up in Thunderbird for years and I've only recently begun seeing this window.

that is an oauth sign in window. Why fastmail is invalidating them is anybodies guess, but some thingd to consider are; VPN. These cause innumerable issues with mail. Most providers think you have been hacked when you are approaching their site from multiple locations world wide in a matter of minutes. This can be compounded by a phone reporting yet another location.

Frequency of fetching mail. Some providers have minimum in their terms. Generally if you leave it at 15 minutes of more your will not have issues.

Oauth token also being used for calendar or contacts and the authentication and permissions have not been fully completed to allow such access, or revoked on the website without telling Thunderbird you no longer wish to use the additional data. Not every connection is about getting mail.

Finally if you have an antivirus product, it may simply be dropping the ball and causing grief.
