Hello. Have only 1 version open, yet get error msg can't open more than 1.

Macbook Pro Monterrey 12.3.1 updated today. When restarted after update, got notice that I now had newest version of Firefox.

Have gone through Apps folder, Trash, searched Finder, task bar, every place. Deleted Firefox and downloaded again. Still get that error msg, even though there is only 1 on my machine.

Desperate, have to file taxes tonight. Don't want to resort to Chrome and have my privacy violated.

Please help.

Thanks so much,

Lynne

The article linked below may help. If Firefox is open, what is the problem? I find it sufficient to delete the lock file but that is when Firefox is closed. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Firefox-already-running-not-responding

Thanks. I found the Profile folder, did not see any ParentLock file(s), though. So I'm kind of stymied. I keep getting the error msg. Weirdly, several years ago, I inadvertently had 2 Firefoxes and both worked. But now, even some little artifact is apparently enough to make it so no Firefox will work. What do I do now?

Thank you,

Lynne

I have found it necessary only to delete the lock file. Isn't that present? You can create a new profile with Firefox closed. That may be the quickest way to solve the problem. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-remove-switch-firefox-profiles https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
