External apps no longer function
Imagine my surprise when, of a sudden, external apps just...quit working. I've checked relentlessly to make sure Settings have the file type, say ".TXT", and the app, say, Notepad.exe. Simple, right? Sadly, not anymore. The thing just wipes a shade across the Tab title, and...nothing. I actually had to install Google to make sure it wasn't me. Google works flawlessly. You click the text file, notepad launches, and I see the downloaded text in Notepad. With the "new" Firefox, you click the text file link, and you get...nothing. Well, a blue shade does cross the current Tab, but that's it.
Why has Firefox quit processing external apps?
I'll keep Firefox installed for now, but really, folks. What gives?
Thanks for anyone's kind attention.
I'll check back. Some time. I guess.
For now, I'm stuck with Google.
And really, this form of "Help" and "Reporting" leaves a lot to be desired. I have the sinking feeling I'm now stuck with Google for good.
