Firefox 90.0 Crashes Constantly

Hello,

At first I thought it was a tired Arch Manjaro install that was perhaps the issue. Now that I've done fresh installs of Arch (Manjaro & Arco), Ubuntu (KDE, Gnome, & XFCE) on both my workstation and laptop, I can say it's not my Hardware or OS. So why is Firefox crashing all the time? Mid chat conversations, etc. Again, fresh OS install and zero Add-Ons installed. I can't use Firefox, even if I badly wanted too when it tanks on me all the time.

Hi aldspamacct,

Try opening firefox in Safe mode,

  • Find the Firefox icon or click Start and type Firefox.
  • Hold down the Shift key on the keyboard and then click the Firefox icon.
  • In the Firefox Safe Mode window, click the Start in Safe Mode option.

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

@Shashank Shekhar - Thank you for your fast reply. But running in Safe Mode defeats the purpose. If I can't run in normal mode, there's no point in using FireFox. My installs are as "Plain Jane" as you can get. Fresh installs of multiple OSs on different hardware. Initial system updates are all that's done after install: (pacman -Syyu & apt-get update; apt get upgrade) Where Chrome just works.

@TyDraniu - I was responding to Shashank Shekhar's suggestion. You didn't mention Safe Mode. Only "about:crashes in the Firefox address bar". Which I'm happy to do as soon as FF crashes here shortly.

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes), any userChrome.css/userContent.css files, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem. If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.
