Videos freezing, Pages taking forever to open, what's up?

I am getting more & more frustrated and exasperated, as simple browsing has become tortuously slow, with many sites taking forever to load, or only partially load, or have to be refreshed a couple times, to finally get it to load. And videos constantly freezing up, despite lots of free RAM, and a very high-speed internet connection. I assumed whatever was causing this would've been addressed in the last update, or two, but no, it's only getting worse.

Start Firefox using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

Did that, but aside from having some sites overwhelmed with pop-ups and videos auto-playing, it didn't improve the slowness, nor the puzzling lack of response to my mouse clicks. I have to sometimes click on things four or five times, before the page or something on the page, responds... I feel like I'm on a dial-up connection, not a 200+ Mbps WiFi connection....

As a test, disable your protection programs.

Not sure what you are saying. I did start Firefox in safe mode, used it for awhile, then re-opened it, in normal mode. Nothing changed...

Did you have the problem while in Safe Mode?

more options

Yes, I did. And it's both happening with my iMac & Macbook Pro, which don't even use the same OS. I've attached two pics to show how Firefox is using half or more of all my RAM (64 on iMac, 16 on Macbook Pro), and on my laptop, I've got only a fraction of the number of windows/tabs open, yet still using up half.

See if there are updates for your graphics drivers https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration

I've had the hardware acceleration option deselected, as that always seems to be the first thing people say to do. However, I've never disabled the WebGL, as the instructions say to also do. Should I first try selecting hardware acceleration, see if that helps, and then deselect that, and disable WebGL? This has never been very fully explained, the advice is always just to uncheck H.A....

Disable one. Restart the browser. If the problem remains, disable the other and restart.

I've got both disabled, and now FIrefox is even worse. I can barely even type anything....
