Sorry to hear about this problem. What kind of page is it that you are trying to print? Or is it a PDF?

While that message is displayed, does Firefox show the right column with the option to print using the system dialog, or is that column also blank?

There is a temporary preference to switch back to the classic design of separate preview/setup/print if you can't make the new one work for you:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste tab_mo and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the print.tab_modal.enabled preference to switch between the new experience (true) and the classic experience (false)

(4) If there is another preference named app.normandy.startupRolloutPrefs.print.tab_modal.enabled you can double-click that one to switch it to false as well. If you do not have that one, no need to create it.

Since you are setting to false, it will look roughly like this:

What message about printing do you see in the Web Console Browser Console if you check the console immediately after printing ?

There have been various reports about an uncaught exception with retrieving printer data via a promise and best would be to file a bug report to investigate this.

Hello jscher2000 Thank you for your reply. Did as you as you have advised, a bit earlier, found the "procedure" elsewhere on the Net. It indeed revert to the "old" scheme for printing Firefox pages. And I can print now. But the Bug sits still there, it is just tamed. It happens on my brand new desktop (4 weeks old, custom build) with all the bells and whistles (I am not a gamer...), just wanted a machine which must not be upgraded every 4 - 5 years... Two family laptops DO print in accordance with F-fox Build 86 printing scheme (same version as on the PC) happily. A mystery? One of your colleagues advised also more or less same way, and: "wait - we fixing the BUG..." So, I guess, I don't need to formally log in a bug, do I? No big deal, finally, just my two hours of madly seeking a "solution"... Thank you again, Andrzej (South Africa, but bred and born in Poland)

Hi Andrzej, you can create a new profile for testing because I think the developers probably will have some questions about what kinds of pages cause the problem.

Creating a Test Profile

This takes about 3 minutes, plus testing time.

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Take a quick glance at the page and make a mental note of which Profile has this notation: This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is your current default profile.

Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like PrintTest, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

Firefox will switch your default profile to the new one, so click the Set as Default Profile button for your regular one to avoid an unwanted surprise at your next startup.

Scroll down to PrintTest and click its Launch profile in new browser button.

Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system to get a clean test and avoid disrupting your regular settings.

Note: the print setting may still be on classic after initial profile creation, so you might need to switch it for testing if you wanted to start right away.

When you are done with the experiment, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile. (PrintTest will remain available for future testing and you can launch it from about:profiles as needed.)

As one of the developers who would be responsible for figuring out and fixing issues like this I'd appreciate if you could file a bug report on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ and then drop a link here to that report.
