I am trying to Thunderbird to work from the profile folder I have set up on drive Y:. I copied the Thunderbird folder from C: to Y:Thunderbird. and changed the profiles.ini path from Path=Profiles/0zqxuk4s.default to Y:Thunderbird/Profiles/0zqxuk4s.default. After doing this I start Thunderbird and it wants me to setup a new profile. What am I doing wrong?

Item 1. USE the profile manger. Manual editing of the profiles.ini file is not supported. Errors and dependencies are simply too trivial.

Item 2. Set the profile to use using the profile manager, you can create a new profile in the manager that points to your Y:drive data.

Be aware that drive letters assigned to USB drives by windows are subject to dynamic change be windows and it can result in a total mess with regard your profile. Further, data stored on remote drives, networks, NAS devices and even the internet are regular sources of failure reported in these forums. often resulting in multiple copies of files being created.

Storage in a local drive internal to the device is the most reliable way to use Thunderbird.
