When I try to start Firefox after I switched on the Imac, Firefox won't start. I end up with the rotating sign which leads me to immediately end Firefox with the combination 'option', 'command' and 'esc'. Strange enough, this only happens at the first attempt to start Firefox. After this I can close Firefox and open it again. It will always working until I switch off the Imac. Then, next day or so, when Imac is switched on again the same will happen again. Several automatically generated reports were already sent, which is the normal routine after an immediate shut down of a program which does not start normally. Any idea? Thanks to advise! Cheers, Norbert.

Hi, there was a bug which may have caused this and has just been fixed in v85.0.2 https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1689032

See if you can update to v85.0.2 manually from Preferences > (General) > Firefox updates. If you can't do that, you can download from https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release which should overwrite your current version. (Your data such as bookmarks etc., should not be removed by doing this.)

If that isn't the cause, hold down the Option key when you start Firefox to start in Safe Mode. More - Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If it's OK in Safe Mode, disable any theme or extensions you have - 3-bar menu > Add-ons > Themes/Extensions, then restart Firefox; now if it's still OK, re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit. You may need to restart Firefox after enabling some extensions.
