Thunderbird/Proton Mail link
Hello, I've been trying to link my proton mail bridge with my Thunderbird desktop platform and after I manually configure all the settings (as shown in the tutorial) it says "Unable to log in at the server, probably wrong configuration, username or password."
I'm following the directions exactly as they appear on the standard tutorial, does anyone have some advice on how to fix this?

As I have never seen the tutorial I can not offer advice on it.
Thunderbird generally defaults to wrong user name and password when it can not establish a connection and gets no error message from the server. The most common issue is an anti virus / Firewall blocking access to the server.
I just looked at this information.https://protonmail.com/bridge/thunderbird Wow what a dog breakfast of ancient loor and mostly bocked functionality.
Lets start with the IP address 127.0.0.1 This is also known as the loopback address or localhost and is routinely blocked by anti virus products. While it has some legitimate uses it is mostly used by malware authors. Generally if you want to use it you have to modify settings in the anti virus or third party firewall to allow access. (The windows one tends to leave this windows core function alone)
Next, the loopback address does not use encryption. So your account settings in Thunderbird can't use encryption. No startTLS as advised in the protonmail app screen. (I notice they did not set it in their tutorial either)
Why pay for proton mail, is always what I think when I see folks happily paying for a product that their recipients can't actually read the mail. Unless they visit the proton mail web site. They get an email with a link to the encrypted content. Not really email at all.
