Hello,

For about +1 year, every time I open a Firefox window, in Windows 10 Task Manager I see 5 to 10 windows are open and take up more than 800MB of space.

To this day I still haven't found a solution.

Can anyone tell me how to stop this process as it slows down my Toshiba Satellite Pro R50 C10X laptop which is 4 years old and still very healthy ....

thank you

Hello,

I reinstalled Firemin and apparently it works well now. Just check that Malwarebyte doesn't remove it ;-)

There I have 5 tabs open, in the task manager 6 and the memory used is 20Mo. So everything is fine.

Thanks for your feedback and if there is still a problem I'll come back to talk to you about it.

Hi, this might be about Multiprocess. You can try reducing the number of processes: Go to the 3-bar menu > Options (General) - Performance, then deselect 'Use recommended performance settings' and change 'Content process limit' to 1. See - Firefox's performance settings. You will still see several processes in the Windows Task Manager - which is normal, but it might improve your speed.

You can also have a look at Firefox's Task Manager - see whether tabs or extensions are slowing down Firefox.

Hello,

Thank You for your feedback ;-)

The performance setting of Firefox reduced to 1 does not change anything.

Is it normal that I have Firefox at the top of the task manager but also in the "background" part?

I don’t know what right GPU 0 3D means ?

Finally I installed Firmini yesterday but it no longer appears in the task manager...! There I just executed him again so I don’t know if he’s active ;-((

The 3 applications that take the most memory is FIREFOX, THUNDERBIRD and NORD VPN

I mean, I don’t know what to do to see what tabs or extensions are slowing down Firefox....

To see which tabs may be using excessive memory, look in Firefox's Task Manager, as suggested in my original reply. This is not the same as Windows Task Manager.

Other applications such as Thunderbird and Nord VPN, are nothing to do with Firefox, so if they are using excessive memory, you would have to investigate them separately.

In case any of your extensions are causing it, hold down the Shift key when you start Firefox to start in Safe Mode - which temporarily disables all extensions and a few other things as well. More - Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

If it's OK in Safe Mode, disable any theme or extensions you have - 3-bar menu > Add-ons > Themes/Extensions, then restart Firefox; now if it's still OK, re-enable them one by one until you find the culprit. You may need to restart Firefox after enabling some extensions.

You could also try working through Firefox uses too much memory or CPU resources - How to fix.

You shouldn't need to use external software such as Firemin to reduce Firefox's usage.
