Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only> Firefox itself: (Programs Folder) And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

Save the file. Then Close Firefox.

Using your file browser, open the Programs Folder on your computer.

Windows: C:\Program Files C:\Program Files (x86) Note: Check Both Folders

Do Not remove any profile folders.

The reinstall process asked to reset defaults and remove add-ons. Since it was checked by default and you didn't mention it, I left it checked.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Firefox reliably starts every time when in Windows Safe mode.

I still cannot get it to reliably start in normal Windows mode.

In most computers, there are several types of Safe Mode. The primary ones used most are;

• Safe Mode: Only programs that came with the computer are started. No other programs will be started unless the user starts them.

• Safe Mode with Networking: Same as above but the network drivers (internet) will also be running.

This is a way to test if one of the other programs on the computer is causing the issue.

As a test, disable your protection programs.

FredMcD - I appreciate your efforts. I know about the different types of Safe Mode. I am a computer programmer with almost forty years experience.

I will be permanently uninstalling Firefox from my computer.
