Crash reports are sent to the Mozilla servers and are checked out by them.
Provide us with the crash report numbers and we can check them out.

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>.
Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.

The crash report is several pages of data. We
need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 Submitted crash reports, and copy them.
Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

DLL files aren't present in the profile folder, so it sounds that you removed files in the Firefox installation folder.

In what folder(s) did you remove files ?
Did you check the Windows Recycle Bin ?

Firefox uses two locations for the Firefox profile folder.

Location used for the main profile that keeps your personal data (Root Directory on about:profiles).

• C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Location used for the disk cache and other temporary files (Local Directory on about:profiles).

• C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<profile>\

Do a clean reinstall of the current Firefox release and delete the Firefox program folder before installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.

If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows Registry and settings in security software.

• do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall the current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including personal data in profiles created by other Firefox versions

Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.

• it is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling

Your personal data like bookmarks is stored in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose personal data when you reinstall or update Firefox, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.

You can't just remove DLL files and expect applications to keep working properly as these files are essential part of an application. You will have to restore the files you deleted.

I was trying to download a game from the internet. It was slowing everything down (probably due to ads, etc) and I thought if I deleted the game files it would work. Make programs can not just be deleted. In the install process, links are created for the program within the computer. These need to be removed via its uninstaller.

If you want to reinstall Firefox, follow the instructions below.
If you just want to remove it, disregard the install instructions.

Let’s do a full clean re-install;

Note: Firefox comes in three or more folders on all computers. They are;

Maintenance: (Programs Folder) <Windows Only>
Firefox itself: (Programs Folder)
And two folders in the profile of each user on the computer for each Firefox profile for that user.

If you remove the Firefox folder, the user profiles would not be affected.

If these are Firefox add-ons, they usually can be removed through the Add-ons page: Disable or remove Add-ons.

If these got injected into Firefox's program folder, that is highly suspicious behavior and you may want to use a malware cleaner: Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware.

No problem, you can use multiple browsers for different purposes. They may tussle about who gets to be the default browser, but hopefully you can get that squared away without too much trouble.

I am not very computer savvy so I thought that downloading a free game would just place it somewhere in my C: drive but it ended up downloading to the Firefox library as a DLL file which I thought I could just delete. Sigh. Anyway, I will uninstall and then re install Firefox. I would like to keep my "history" of web addresses, etc but I wasn't clear on the prior instructions on how to do this. I opened the Control Panel - which directory should I look in?

I had downloaded 3 of these DLL files which ended up in the Firefox library. I deleted two of them and that's when Firefox would crash. The 3rd one is still in the Windows Program list but even if I uninstall it doesn't the crash program still exist since the other two are gone. Just uninstalling the 3rd one wouldn't bring back Firefox would it?

THere is no Thunderbird. How would I know if I have deleted the profile folders since there is nothing stating "profile"?

The profile folders are not stored with the program folders. Do not worry.

If deleting makes you nervous, you can rename them. For example:

• Open C:\Program Files
• right-click "Mozilla Firefox" > click Rename
• change to OldFirefox and press Enter to complete the change

Of course, Firefox cannot be running when you do that.
