this extremely annoying hyperlink tool tip pops up and gets in the way of mouse clicks. if im not careful I'll accidentally click it instead of what i intended to click on. it likes to pop up over my email check boxes too when im trying to select mail to delete. if i do accidentally click on it, it will follow the link using the tab im currently on which is the brunt force of the annoyance. it absolutely gets in the way and infuriates me to no end. I dont have any add-ons that specifically relate to it, and i cant find anything doing a google search that relates to it either.

Whoa, that's fancy. I don't think Firefox has that kind of "inspector" tool for images, although I might have just missed it.

Do you use any add-ons related to images, background images, downloading images, etc?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thanks, i found the issue. I checked my add-ons more carefully, I didn't have any related to "images, background images, downloading images" but i had one called "Redirect bypasser" and it had a "menu" that would pop up over anything that contains a url link. (images, buttons, regular html links) its main feature was:

"Extract links recursively (every URL found are added to a pop-up overlay while hovering the link to let the user choose the best option in a fast way"

it might sound useful but it can get in the way. i thought it was a passive add-on not something you had to interact with.

I'm choosing "jscher2000" as the problem solver as you got me to look into the add-ons more. Even though you didn't directly solve the issue.
