Despite allowing cookies, 2FA authentication won't remember me and I have to receive a push notification every time.

My school recently introduced Duo 2FA when logging on to our online classroom platform and despite clicking the "Remember me for 30 days" box, Firefox will not remember my computer which means I have to get on my phone to accept a push notification every time I want to log in to the portal. Despite trying various things my school's IT desk has been no help, so I came here because it must be some issue with the Firefox browser itself as it remembers me fine in browsers like Chrome. In my Privacy & Security tab, I am using custom settings and do not have the box checked to block any cookies. In Manage Permissions for cookies I also have always explicitly allowed cookies from my school's portal and duosecurity.com. I also never use private browsing when trying to use this function and don't have Firefox set to clear any of my data when I close it, but I don't need to close the window or anything -- when I try to log back in on the same tab a few hours later, I'm still prompted for a push notification. I've gone as far to reinstall the browser completely, but this hasn't worked either? Does anyone else have this problem or have any other tips? Getting push notifications every 2 hours is really getting on my nerves, especially since all of my classes are online now due to the virus. Thanks!

Hello,

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. (Firefox 57 and above) Click the Library button 57 library icon and choose History.
(Click the menu button New Fx Menu and choose History in older Firefox versions.)
  2. In the History menu, choose "Clear Recent History...".
  3. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  4. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  5. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  6. Now click the "Clear Now" button.

Further information can be found in the Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Hi,

I've tried this before to solve this problem but gave it another shot, but it didn't solve the problem. Anything else I can try?

Thanks!
