Firefox opens links in tabs twice

more options

Hello,

Since installation of Firefox 73 - after two weeks out of home -, whenever I middle click on a link, the link opens in two tabs. I tried with:

- No extensions: this seems to fix the problem... - Fresh profile (mine was from 2008 or something like that): do not fix problems (but shrink my profile, nice :)) - By enabling extension one by one, restarting the browser each time: I could not find a "guilty" extension. When it seems to fix the problems, it reappear, not with the same extensions.

I don't have a clue at what is failing.

I tried by disabling the "open new window in new tab", but this still fails.

Is there a way to trace this problem ? (or fix it).

Does it always happen? Or for specific sites? I know this is the behavior of tabs in containers, it opens in a new instance of FF so it opens in a new tab. Turning off containers resolves it.

In the case where it happens, it was from netvibes (default container) to some size (default container). Netvibes uses a target attribute and I think it is only when this attribute is set (can't say it is always when the attribute is here).

I also had the problem from a file:// webpage (default container) to another container. The link on said page were all with target= (it is a generated page, that I can change to remove the target attribute, but I'm always opening links in new tabs).

I could disable containers... but I'm using them as they are pretty useful.

Beside, I never had this problem since updating to Firefox 73.

Can you confirm that this doesn't happen if you temporarily disable containers ?

I disabled them from the Options menu... and it still duplicate tabs. [edit] I completely removed them and same problem.

It is like another extension is playing with Firefox, but I can't find which one. Is there a way to trace which action opens a link in a new tab?
