Due to runing Windows 7 and Microsoft no longer supporting this, I purchased a new Laptop, this came with windows 10 s installed, although I can switch to Windows 10, apparently it is not recommended and switching back would be impossible, but with Windows 10 s installed, you can not load Firefox or bookmarks, as Firefox has not been approved by Windows. If anyone can give any information or advice, it would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

There should not be any such issues with using firefox on windows 10. It was just yesterday I have installed a new firefox version on my latest windows 10 devices and all the bookmarks loaded pretty fine.

Go ahead without thinking much.

To be on a safer side, just sync your bookmarks to your account or export them. Firefox will import or sync it just fine.

Hi Akash, thanks, but are you on Windows 10 or Windows 10 S, never had a problem before, installing software or importing bookmarks, but when I tried, it would not allow the install, also had a problem with Avast, but after looking at the list of approved installs found Avast, not so for Firefox, it appears the 10 S is being portrayed as a safer operating system.

I am using windows 10. For installing firefox on windows 10 s, you need to go out from s mode. Refer to this article: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4456067/windows-10-switch-out-of-s-mode

After this go and download firefox from website and continue with installation.

Thanks again Akash. Rather not switch off Windows10 safe yet, need to see how it pans out, understand my options, with possibility that either, Firefox gets accepted on 10 s or Windows 10 S is not worth using, I will then ditch the S mode.

Thanks again

I think Windows 10S is restricted to applications in the Microsoft Store that use the so-called "modern" application interface style. Many years ago, maybe around the time of Windows 8.1, Mozilla started building an alternate Windows interface according to Microsoft's modern interface guidelines, but that effort was terminated. I doubt it will come back.

Win10s is a simplified version of windows. This version of the knowledge base can only install the software provided in the app store, so it is much more secure, but it also leads to some inconvenience. I think that other versions of windows 10 are used for desktops, but if it's just a small book for emergency use during business trip and travel, it's enough to use windows 10s. After all, you don't need to install too many software, and there are no pop-up pages to disturb people when browsing, especially the security is relatively high, you don't need to install software killing, and the system won't be too bloated. Of course, Microsoft also provides solutions, specifically: Click special settings, open update and security, and then select activate. Then you can see an option to switch to windows 10 home (or other versions). Then click "go to Microsoft Store" below, and wait a moment, it should restart automatically, and then your Windows 10 doesn't have that S.

As a reminder, if you upgrade, you will not be able to convert to the original version

On my older computer Firefox worked fine. The several opened windows for some websites are stored. After restart of my new computer with installed WINDOWS10 it is normally opened with Microsoft Edge for the several websites on the underst line. They mostly are not restored fo a new start. Looking for different browsers under WINDOWS10 to activate only MS Edge is shown. Even wenn Firefox asks to make it as standard browser, no Firefox can be opened and is not shown. After complete new installation of Firefox I could make it as standard browser and everything works well. The war between Microsoft Edge and Firefox beginns here with unhonest methods by Microsoft.
