Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.

When done, copy and post the results here.

I did what you suggested I do and I will see what happens, I did go to the support as stated and check the integrity and copied the results but was not able to post it as asked.FredMcD said

Thank you all for the answers to my question, it was great and took care of the problem. I disabled the sync and it is no longer happening. Again thank you for your help.

Now that I have 6 of every bookmark in my library on every machine how do I manage them, delete duplicates, and organize them again. the editing tools are not what they used to be a couple years ago.

Unless you can find an add-on to check your bookmarks, you will have to do this manually.

If you are still using sync, the deleted bookmark will be removed from all members of the sync.

Sync is turned off. I did find https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bookmark-dupes/ that helps get rid of the excess.
