Pinned tabs keep randomly unpinning when working with them.

This has been going on ever since pinned tabs feature was implemented. Pinned tabs are so unstable that they are basically useless. Currently pinned tabs are unpinning themselves when I load and work in forms on the corresponding pages. I'm not accidentally unpinning them. It's happening spontaneously for no apparent reason. It isn't related to any tab extensions. I am certain of this because I have disabled all of them and it still keeps happening. Click tab, work on page, click other tab to do form work on other tab, go back to previous tab and it's not there because it's unpinned. It's gotten maddening to be perfectly honest as there doesn't appear to be any solution to the problem and I've honestly reached the point after this feature being so unstable for so long that I don't understand why the feature even exists since it's never worked reliably sine it's inception. What's going on with this? I used to be able to use tab locking addons that worked far better than this but now no one is able to make them due to the changes. Is this ever going to improve or should I just give up dreaming?

I've never lost pinned tabs in the way you describe. A pinned tab shouldn't change state without unpinning this tab manually. If this happens then there could be a problem with the session state data as stored during the session in the sessionstore-backups folder (anti-virus software?) or an extension could be interfering.

Did you try Safe Mode for a while ?

If it happens a lot or you can easily trigger this, so you do not need to wait a long time, then try a new clean profile.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Yes, have tried running in safe mode but not long enough to replicate the problem in that mode. Reason being I have large projects in the works that I simply cannot complete effeciently with everything disabled.

Profile refreshment, I would have to say, does not solve the issue either. The reason I can say this is because it has been, as stated above, going on since the switch to the new addon system (pinned tabs has never been stable for me at all, on more than one system). This is why, before the changes, I used addons that had locking functionality, which worked well.

So this has been happening in various forms that all add up to pinned tabs never being stable since their inception. The laptop I'm currently using has been totally refreshed (Win 10 reinstalled three times over the past two years), Firefox itself completely removed and clean installed multiple times as well, yet the issue still persists. Pinned tabs do not maintain.

I see the problem reported by others as well on several other web sites, unfortunately not so much here where, IMHO, it should be.

For now, so long as I pay attention and catch the tabs unpinning, I just repin them and continue on. So its a major annoyance and pain in the neck, workable but should be better.

(The reason this is somewhat important to me is due to my workflow, which involves using Tab Wrangler to control my own sloppy tab management. TW honors pinned tabs so when a tab randomly unpins and I don't happen to notice, it can be tossed into the coral and I have to go chasing after it. Overall, it's a livable situation as is, I just wish to heck the doggone things would stay pinned so I don't go kicking my laptop across the room in frustration ;p. Hasn't happened yet but one never knows.)
