Mail slow to load and delete. Searches don't show any mail more recent than 5 months ago.

Over the past few months Thunderbird (Mac) has gotten slow to download, load and delete mail messages. Every email starts with a 30 second spinning wheel. Also, when using the search bar it only shows results older than 5 months to 13 years ago.

Also, only search bar is at folder level. Global search bar is gone.
