Firefox drag & drop crashes entire OS, what's happening?
Hi everyone, experiencing a problem with firefox on my Macbook. When I try and drag & drop an image from file to an online uploader, it crashes my entire OS.
The file shrinks down to thumbnail size when hovering over the drag & drop space (as normal) but then gets stuck at that point. Then, whenever I try to click on anything at all (start-up menu, a different program) the thumbnail just appears under my cursor, I cannot click away and the whole OS becomes unresponsive. My only out as far as I can see is a hard reset.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance for any input.
EDIT: the problem is also present when uploading conventionally. The file uploads but then my cursor is stuck in a form of "force select" - for example if I move it over another program it'll just then drag that program around with it and refuse to drop it, thus screwing up my entire OS. I even managed to CMD+Q quit out of Firefox this time, but once initiated the problem doesn't disappear.

What uploader are you using? Have you contacted their support?

Are you using any file transfer add-ons/programs?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
Sorry this has taken me a little while to respond to. This is a busy time of year for me - exactly the time I don't want my browser to crash my entire computer!

At first I uploaded to an online 3D book-cover creator, and I thought it might be their fault. But then I tried to upload things to facebook and the same thing happened. It's not the website, it's Firefox.

Not using a transfer add-on. Tried in safe mode, uploading to facebook. It still crashes Firefox but I can click away and force quit the application. But only in safe mode.
Please help me resolve this. I'm so used to working in firefox that I'm working between firefox and chrome atm. Which is just crazy trying to remember what's open in which browser. Thanks in advance for your help.
In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. Note: If any reports do not have BP- in front of the numbers/letters, click it to submit them.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
Using your mouse, mark the most recent 7 - 10 Submitted crash reports, and copy them. Now go to the reply box and paste them in.

What is the value of this pref on the about:config page?
- nglayout.enable_drag_images = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.
