Hi, I have been using Firefox on Windows 7 for years with no issues, and really want to continue with it, now on Windows 10. But I have repeated errors now with slow or unresponsive web pages, crashing tabs, the Yellow 'A webpage is slowing down your browser'. Video playing on various sites is a nightmare with video freezing or bufferring. I have followed the advice on here and elsewhere, including : https://windowsreport.com/firefox-issues-windows-10/ With no success. The Media Pack recommended on here, just comes up as 'Not Compatible with my computer' ALL the problem Videos play perfectly on Edge.

I repeat, I really want to stay with Firefox, but I am sure you can see why I may end up switching.

I am using Firefox Quantum 66.0.2 (64-bit), on Windows 10 Pro v1809

Can anyone please help ?

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}

Thanks, but tried in Safe Mode, no change, and no Shield while videos are freezing etc.

Start your Computer in safe mode with network support. Then start Firefox. Try Secure websites. Is the problem still there?

Hi, my apologies if I'm being thick ? But Safe Mode with Networking doesn't allow my Internet connection, so I can't visit any websites. And I can't see where to select Secure websites, if that will allow connection ?

A secured website has an address that starts with https:

Note the 's' near the end.

Mozilla is a secured website.

Network Support is the programs needed to access the web.

Hi, Worked this time, as I needed to adjust my Web connection.

The Videos then played in Firefox, but does that tell me why they don't play in Normal Mode ?

When you have a problem that goes away in Safe Mode (browser or computer), then something in the normal mode is causing the issue.

As a test, disable your protection programs.

Hi Ublock Origin adblocker disabled, allows the video to play for slightly longer before freezing.

Disabling Avast Antivirus has no effect at all.

Are there any Firefox protection programs built in to the browser itself ?

I am happy to change to a different Adblocker, but I still fail to see why other Browsers work fully. I admit, I will continue to monitor this thread, but I am now using Chrome, until somebody sorts the various issues out with Firefox.

Ad blockers can be disabled on a pre-site basis.

Hi As I say, with the adblocker off altogether, the videos are only playing slightly longer before freezing. I can only assume there is a fundamental problem, perhaps compatibility with Firefox on Windows 10. I had no issues for years on Windows 7, but again, as I said, I am now using Chrome with no issues. I will check back with Firefox, but I can't use it as default, until fixes are made. Thank you though for all your help :-)
