Search box on Home (new) Tab not giving suggestions and nothing happening when pressing Enter or clicking on Search arrow.

I am using the latest version of Firefox 64.0.2 (64 bit) on Windows 10. In the last few weeks I have noticed when opening a new Tab, the Web Search box (set to use Google) is not showing any suggestions as I type, and is not responding when pressing Enter or clicking on the arrow (Search) icon. So far, I have tried (without success) changing the Search provider, clearing all cookies and cache contents, starting in Safe-Mode, Refreshing Firefox, Uninstalling and re-installing Firefox and deleting the search.json.mozlz4 file. Has anyone any other suggestions please?
