Why do only some bookmarks show up when searching in the awesome/address bar?

When I search in the awesome (address) bar, results only include bookmarks some of the time. I have tested this multiple times. I can type word and sometimes the results will show bookmarks containing that word, but sometimes no bookmarks will be shown, even when I know that there are bookmarks containing that word.
