I should probably add that i have tried reinstalling, removing all files related to firefox (that i could find), restarting the computer, and installing the alpha version.

If you can't get Firefox to open, you will have to do this the hard way.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/mozillacrashreporter Open the file browser/explorer on your computer. Note: You may have to enable Show Hidden Folders / Files. Enter this in the address bar;

Windows: %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win 7/Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted Win XP/2000: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted

Mac OS: /Users/<username>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/submitted Linux: /home/<username>/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted

The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

Copy the most recent 5-7 File Names in the folder. Post the information in the reply box.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

more options

No difference in safe mode; still crashes immediately.

more options

We have seen crashes reported caused by a fbplugin (Facebook photo uploader) in the "Internet Plug-Ins" folder, so you can check if you have this component.

more options

There's nothing in ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/

more options

And in the global Library folder?

  • /Library/Internet Plug-Ins
more options

There are some plugins in there, but no fbplugin. I've attached a photo of /Library/Internet Plug-Ins.

OK, so there isn't a fbplugin.

You can check for issues caused by Firefox hardware acceleration.

Try to start Firefox in Safe Mode to see if that works.

  • Mac: hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
  • Windows: hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox

You can also check in Font Book for issues with fonts.

Unfortunately safe mode doesn't work either. I'm not sure what you mean with Font Book issues, but i haven't changed any fonts and it worked not too long ago.
