So how are you doing the zoom feature by keypress or mouse option?

If you get a larger repesentation of the image if you click this image then this is likely done via JavaScript.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block (wanted) content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block (wanted) content.

Firefox shows the shield icon at the left end of the location/address bar in case Content Blocking is blocking content.

  • click the shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection

You can check the Web Console about what content is blocked

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thankyou both for your replies. Cor-el I do not understand your reply. First line reads:--- If you get a larger repesentation of the image if you click this image then this is likely done via JavaScript. It all goes downhill with my understanding from here.

However my problem seems suddenly cured when I tried to zoom a picture today all worked ok. Thanks for your offers of solutions sorry I could not understand them. I do not understand if this reply is going back to Cor-el or everyone . General Mozilla support seems difficult to find. Hopefully my problem is now resolved, but I am none the wiser to the cause or fix.

On some websites you get a larger version in a lightbox if you click the image. This forum also does this if you click the thumbnail of an attached image.

I don't know if the autotrader website does this or that you need to use Ctrl and + or the zoom controls in the "3-bar" Firefox menu button drop-down list to zoom the page.

Thankyou for your reply. My problem seems to have disappeared. I can now zoom autotrader images as I used to be able to be able to. I could explain how you would zoom an image on autotrader.co.uk, but if you logged on to the site you would see the way it works rather than asking me incomprehensible questions. What is a lightbox and what is a firebox 3 bar menu. All my actions are done from a laptop using key presses. I will be none the wiser what the problem was and why it suddenly cured itself.

The "3-bar" Firefox menu : those three horizontal lines in the upper right corner, right under the closing X ....

Lightbox - see :

But your problem miraculously disappeared, so all's good
now, eh  ?
