Firefox is automatically clearing stored cookies.
I have a multiple logins of google and some other websites which I have added in Firefox and never log out from them so I do not have to log in them again and again. It was working perfectly till last update and now every time I close firefox, cookies.sqlite in profile is being renamed to cookies.sqlite.bak and a fresh sqlite file is created when I restart Firefox, so all logins are gone. Everytime I have to delete the freshly created cookies.sqlite file and rename bak file to cookies.sqlite. My FF version is '63.0.3 (32-bit)' and option of "Accept cookies and site data" is already set to expire on "Until they expire".
Please help me how to toubleshoot it because I cant to loose cookies data at any cost.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).
Go to one or two sites and sign in. You don't have to do anything there. Just sign in.
After exit Firefox. Then restart. Is the problem still there?
No, its the same. Every time I close firefox. Cookies sqlite is moved to .bak. I also tried a plugin to export and import cookies. It exports them fine but when I try to import, does not work.
Another thing, my old cookies.sqlite file size is 2048 kb and never exceeds that size. Can it be due to size of the file?

Two megabytes? Hmm, seems large, but I generally only allow session cookies so that could explain why mine is 512 KB.

What's the idea behind Safe mode thing?
Also, since I have json file of cookies, can I manually write them down or import into cookies.sqlite?
It the cookies.sqlite file that you are restoring every time is corrupted then restoring this file won't help. You will have to keep using the new cookies.sqlite file and create new 'remember me' cookies once again. Note that only one cookie record in the file might be corrupted, so you can try to inspect this file in an SQLite manager application to see if you can find problematic entries in this database.

In most computers, there are several types of Safe Mode. The primary ones used most are;
- Safe Mode: Only programs that came with the computer are started. No other programs will be started unless the user starts them.
- Safe Mode with Networking: Same as above but the network drivers (internet) will also be running.
This is a way to test if one of the other programs on the computer is causing the issue.
