Firefox sync will not recognize our password

Previously we had the latest version of Firefox synced with our Android 7.0 phone using our Google account. We just got a new Android phone. Now, when we try to sync Firefox on our phone, it says that our password is wrong. We are absolutely sure we are entering it exactly as it is in our Google account that Firefox on our laptop uses to sync. Why is it not recognizing the password?
