I work at a small company who has been using firefox for our work. It has updated and now it crashes and we can't use it. I prefer it over Chrome. Is there a fix? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it and listing the website we use as an exception. None of that has worked. this is the crash log: e68fd5de-fd1d-450c-8057-5f41b05940f6 9/7/2018 2:07 PM

The crash report references " msmpeg2vdec.dll". Can you run an SFC scan on your computer? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/929833/use-the-system-file-checker-tool-to-repair-missing-or-corrupted-system

It finished and said "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

I downloaded A different version to see if that works. Firefox ES? is there a link for the prior version of firefox maybe that we could download? This didn't happen until the recent update.

The ESR version crashed too. So is there an older version link somewhere to download?

There are older versions (Install an older version of Firefox), but they are not supported. Also, why do you think that would help?

To see whether this is a settings issue, please try:

New Profile Test

This takes about 3 minutes, plus the time to test your sites.

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Click the Create a New Profile button, then click Next. Assign a name like Sept2018, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

After creating the profile, scroll down to it and click the Set as default profile button below that profile, then scroll back up and click the Restart normally button. (There are some other buttons, but please ignore them.)

Firefox should exit and then start up using the new profile, which will just look brand new. Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account or to activate extensions found on your system so we can get a clean test.

Do your sites work any better in the new profile?

When you are done with the experiment, open the about:profiles page again, click the Set as default profile button for your normal profile, then click the Restart normally button to get back to it.

A bug was filed for this crash signature indicating it could be a new detection by your security software: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1490637

Obviously you can't turn off your security software, and you probably can't use the webapp without video enabled, so for now, you probably should use a different browser for that site and check Firefox again tomorrow.

Seems to not work every day. Someone suggested Waterfox and it also crashed. Chrome works, but slows the whole system. It's my only option right now and I hope firefox will work sometime in the future.

Can your IT department open a case with Trend Micro and point them toward your crash reports and the bug?

We don't have a department. We outsource everything as we are barely over 10 people. It's been reported to the company that we hired and so far, they don't have a solution. but thanks.
