No about section, but this worked:

Alternatively, click the menu button, click Help and select Troubleshooting Information. A page with the address about:support will appear in a new tab. Your Firefox version is listed underneath the Application Basics section of the page. For more information, see Use the Troubleshooting Information page to help fix Firefox issues.

That's where I found the Refresh button that worked.

Hi

Firefox has some semi-hidden options youcan see when you type about:about into the addressbar.

You should have to worry about this to update Firefox Quantum. To the right hand side of the tool bar is an icon made up of three lines. When you select it, go to Help and About Firefox and you should see a pop up window that will check to make sure you are up to date and offer any updates.

I hope that this helps.

You can also call up "About Firefox" through the top menu bar. On Mac, that should be on the Firefox menu, while on Windows, it's on the Help menu. (Will Apple and Microsoft ever agree on such things?)

According to the System Details list you already run the current Firefox release 62.0, so thee is no need to update.

On Mac you used to find find this window under:

Do you mean that this choice is no longer present?

Oh wait, your Firefox reported itself to be version 62.0, which is the latest version. Who was telling you you need to update??

Netflix would not work. Asked if i had the latest Firefox. everywhere I looked on Firefox it said to go to the About section to upgrade. No About section. Somehow I found my way to a place where it suggested I refresh Firefox. I did. That worked. I still have no idea of how to find the "About" section.

Maybe Netflix's instructions are messed up. You can consult this article if you need to update manually in the future: Update Firefox to the latest release.

Note that this might have been a cookie issue.

If it happens again then try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems:

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Manage Data

"Clear the Cache":

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Cookies and Site Data -> Clear Data -> Cached Web Content: Clear

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window
