Can Firefox 64-bit be updated to support "browser.cache.disk.capacity" over 4 GB?

Hi,

It looks like that despite being 64-bit "browser.cache.disk.capacity" is still limited to 4 GB. So I was wondering if it will be possible to update 64-bit version to support cache size over 4 GB?

It is possible to set / modify the value of "browser.cache.disk.capacity" in "about:config" to be over 4,194,303, but it won't work, as browser will stop caching altogether.

4GB cache is about 1 mega of cache entries for most users. The index is going high and performance is decreasing quickly.

I don't think they would decide to increase this limit at this moment, even for 64-bit systems.

This setting has nothing to do with 32bit or 64bit. It has to do with the disk space Firefox uses to store your browser's cache (instead of re-downloading websites you visit frequently, it stores a copy locally). I'm not sure why you think this would be different with 64bit.

The only thing I noticed that while it is possible to modify setting to value over 4 GB (see screenshot) it actually won't work. But for 64-bit version user should be allowed to increase it as systems nowadays have larger RAM and SSD storage, so performance won't be an issue.

I am positive it is 4 GB, as I tested it with latest version 60.

Because sometimes it is very convenient when traveling to browse websites that rarely change, for example docs, and large cache allows to do that.
