Having tried all the suggestions for solving a no responce error. Problem is still there. Is it due to the latest windows upgrade?
I have carried out the usual instructions, ie: Clear entire history, Clear individual addons, replace by elimination, Uninstall and reinstall Firefox. Etc. This seems to work occasionally. The only way I can be sure of success is to open Firefox in Safe mode. I was wondering if this problem is due to the Latest windows April 2018 upgrade. Can anyone Please help? Thanks K Attwood

Hi, just a quick, you should possibly download the AMD Crimson Edition Video Card Drivers while they are still available as well as a download of the 2015 drivers your running now before the disappear for your AMD Radeon HD 5670 https://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows+10+-+64
It very well could be as Windows 10 can and will replace your drivers with Microsoft's https://www.howtogeek.com/302595/how-to-stop-windows-10-from-automatically-updating-hardware-drivers/
Could you please expand on the issue more and any error messages you maybe getting as no response does not tell us much, let alone a place to start. Thanks.
Hi There Following your instructions to download and install new AMD drivers. The problem still exists. When I try to open FIrefox, the system freezes. When I try to close down the screen it greys out and I get a bar across the top of the screen with the messga "Firefox not responding" clicking the top right hand corner X a message box appears asking if I want to close or wait for firefox to open. When I choose the close option the report back to Mozilla activates. Hope this helps.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?

That right there tells you something has gone bad. You should backup any bookmarks and then uninstall FF completely and deleting the Mozilla folder and then do a clean FF install again.
Hi, give this a try : Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove your Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not remove your Firefox profile data (such as bookmarks and passwords), since that information is stored in a different location.
To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, please follow these steps: Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from this page) and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (or open the Firefox menu and click the close button ).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
More information about reinstalling Firefox can be found here.
WARNING: Do not use a third party uninstaller as part of this process. Doing so could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and saved passwords. These cannot be easily recovered unless they have been backed up to an external device! See Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.
Please report back to say if this helped you!
Thank you.
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
- Options/Preferences -> General: Performance
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use recommended performance settings"
remove checkmark: [ ] "Use hardware acceleration when available" - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/performance-settings
Close and restart Firefox after modifying the setting to make the change effective.
You can check if there is an update for your graphics display driver and check for hardware acceleration related issues.
