Why does ADOBE upgrade appear every time I use Firefox but I cant install it?
I am loosing the ability to read various websites in their newest form ex: Wayfair and NYReview of books. They appear in a weird configuration without pics and in an improper(?) format. Is this due to the inability to upgrade Adobe?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link} by holding down the <Shift> (Mac=Options) key, and then starting Firefox.
A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
One issue that seems more common lately is Firefox's Tracking Protection feature. When it is blocking content in a page, a shield icon will appear at the left end of the address bar next to the padlock icon. This article has more info on managing this feature: Tracking Protection {web link}

If pages load in an unstyled format (e.g., black text, white background, blue underlined links), that often indicates that Firefox was not able to retrieve the style sheets for the page.
One other reason for that -- other than Tracking Protection and extensions that block content -- is when Firefox is having problems making secure connections. Have you seen any errors along these lines:
