Windows 7 Dell Precision M4700 laptop. (I can log into it on a mac I tested). Mid morning it timed out on me and I couldn't log back in. I spent all day with tech support to no avail. They reissued me a new password. Re-registered my account. Cleared cache and cookies several times. Restarted the computer several times. Re-insalled FireFox. Refreshed in Safe mode.

They can't find anything on their end. Nor do they receive any login failures as they normally would/should be able to see. When I fill in my user name and password it looks like it's trying then both user & password boxes just go blank. No errors, no you've typed in the wrong user name or password. Nothing. Just fill in again.

There's no one-button Undo for a Refresh, but through a multi-step process, you can restore the old files. Merging old and new would be more complicated, though...

This thread is from Firefox 55 days, but I don't think anything much has changed since then, other than the menu becoming a little clearer (text labels next to icons):

I did a Reset of Firefox - How do i get add my 'Old firefox data' back?

Does Internet Explorer 11 work normally with the site, the problem is just in Firefox?

After the Refresh, did you use Firefox in its "factory" configuration, not enabling extensions or using Sync to recover more of them?

I did get it to work in Opera. For some reason I don't have Internet Explorer. I may have deleted it as I love FireFox. I will see if I can reinstall it and do a test.

Yes I refreshed & reinstalled to default FireFox. No add ons etc. I only had httpsStartPage and AdBlockPlus installed as addons. AdBlock always disabled for my important sites, website & merchants account. Which I just found out does the same when I try to log in.

Thank You for responding to my issue jsher2000.

I can't seem to get it to work It says I have a previous version installed but I find no access to open it... Another problem I don't need today... I was able to login FireFox on IMac & Opera.

I just saw your Sync question but I'm not sure what that is. I do not sync to phone or anything else. I try to keep it all as simple as possible.

For IE, maybe you just need a new shortcut. To run IE without a shortcut, you can enter iexplore in the Start menu search box and that should pull up the program.

No need to set up Sync if you weren't using it before. Please ignore.

Is that the only site that is giving you any problem logging in?

Could you check your Firefox connection setting here:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the search box at the top of the page, type proxy and Firefox should filter to the "Settings" button, which you can click.

The default of "Use system proxy settings" piggybacks on your Windows/IE "LAN" setting. "Auto-detect" can lead to a flaky connection. You may want to try "No proxy".

Any difference?

I am trying to find info/figure out what to do with the Old FireFox Data file that was placed on the desktop. There's a lot in there and if there's an easy way to put everything as it was before I reinstalled that would be awesome. Can you point me to directions? I saw something about it yesterday but can't seem to find it again yet.
