Hi  !

We've been getting a lot of these reports lately - hopefully this will be fixed soon. In te mean time, would you try this :

Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) Promise to be careful, if asked)

Type and look for the preference : security.sandbox.content.level and set its value to 1 (one) (default value is 3 )

Close and restart Firefox.

Everything back to normal now  ?

Note : Once this problem is fixed, please change the value back.

Bummer  ! Would you please do what I should have asked in the first place, and provide a screenshot  ? If you need help to create a screenshot, please see :

How do I create a screenshot of my problem?

Once you've done this, attach the saved screenshot file to your forum post by clicking the Browse... button below the Post your reply box. This will help us to visualize the problem.

Thank you for that screenshot  !

It's exactly what I thought it was.

Changing that pref should have worked ......

You did of course close and restart Firefox after you changed the
value ...... (?)

Hi Guys

Thanks for all your help

'Update '

It now works ok loading a page more often than not.

However loading a page from a search still brings up the unreadable page.

Not quite sure if there is a pattern yet ie. loading a page as a new tab or loading as a new page.

It is loads better though.

So my many thanks for that .

Cheers

John

Hi John, if you only have this problem on HTTPS sites (never HTTP) and particularly with bigger sites like Facebook and YouTube, the problem may be some filtering software (e.g., Lavasoft Web Companion) that is not updated to work with the newest compression technology. Sometimes the "man in the middle" is not your security software but some malware, so it's worth double-checking the next time you see it.

You can inspect the site's certificate to see who the "issuer" is, as that often will be out-of-sync with what other users see.

You can call up the certificate viewer using any of these:

  • right-click (on Mac Ctrl+click) a blank area of the page and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Certificate"
  • (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Certificate"
  • click the padlock or "i" icon in the address bar, then the ">" button, then More Information, and finally the "View Certificate" button

Here's an example for YouTube (attached).
