Ghost password: remembered but not in PW manager

I use Password Manager, password protected. I've never come up against this situation before.

Firefox remembers and autofills my username and password for a particular site. I wanted to open the same site on Safari - so I went into my Security preferences to dig out the password. It's not there. It's as though it's a username/password combo the system has never had in its memory -- but it works when I need it to!

I'm very used to getting passwords from the manager, and trying to figure out why this one isn't recoverable with the usual steps.

How is this happening? And is there another way to recover that password short of resetting it?

Are you using a password manager?

Next time you log in to that site,

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/show-my-password/ Show My Password You are annoyed because your password fields are always scrambled though nobody else but you can see the screen? This most advanced unscrambling addon shows your passwords in readable letters, while being fully customizable to fit your needs.

In the event that the passwords information is lost, you should record all information in a separate text file somewhere else on your hard drive, or written down. You can easily copy and paste if you need to do so. If you are concerned about someone else looking at that file, you can compress it using a password.

Did you check all name and password entries in the Password Manager?

It is possible that the name and password are on different entries and not on the domain where you expect it is can a frame is used.
