The weather.com website was getting real slow to open. I cleared cookies & cache & now it does not open at all. The lower left corner of the browser screen always says its waiting or reading something The URL does appear correct & even states my zipcode. But the screen just remains blank.

I ran Malwarebytes & the system is clean.

I also went into AppData >Local> Firefox>Profiles and deleted (actually just renamed) the cache2 folder. Then renamed the Cache folder. But this made no difference. The cache2 folder was recreated but not the Cache folder, so I restored the Cache folder.

I tried another profile on the same Windows 7 PC & weather.com works just fine.

What in the Profiles folder is preventing weather.com from opening when using that profile?

Remove History For One Site

Open the History Manager <Control><Shift> H. In the search bar, enter the name of the site. Right-click on one of the listings and select Forget About This Site. This should remove all information, including any passwords/settings.

Some location-based sites do not work if geolocation is disabled. You can check that here:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button promising to be careful.

(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste geo and pause while the list is filtered

(3) If the geo.enabled preference is bolded and "user set" to false, double-click it to restore the default value of true, then test to see whether that makes any difference

To rule out an add-on:

Testing in Firefox's Safe Mode: In Safe Mode, Firefox temporarily deactivates extensions, hardware acceleration, and some other advanced features to help you assess whether these are causing the problem.

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox.

If Firefox is running: You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and OK the restart.

Both scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Any improvement? (More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode)

geo.enabled was/is already set to true.

Starting FF in Safe Mode made no difference.

The only website I have a problem with is weather.com. If it sits there long enough (several minutes) I noticed it does start loading but gets hung up again. I'm guessing if I waited long enough maybe the whole thing would load, I don't know.

Another thing, when I close out of weather.com because it's going nowhere, I cannot open Firefox. I get a message that this profile is already in use. I have to use ctrl-alt-delete in order to stop FF.

Any other suggestions?

Thank you - Remove History For One Site did the job.

Thanks also for the weatherbug.com link. It loads faster than weather.com, but so do all the weather websites I've tried.

I have a slow DSL connection and the weather.com animated weather map takes a long time to load in the information & start getting animated,

The weatherbug map loads & goes pretty quickly. I may make it my go to weather site.

Thanks again.
