Just a black screen   ? Stuck on   'loading'  ? No sound   ?
If you have add-ons installed like AdBlock Plus or Flashblock :   disable it.
Would you take a look at this and see if you can find an aswer to your poblem here :

You posted while I was typing my reply;   would you try and see if any of those suggestions might help   ? Switching to Edge before even waiting for an answer is a bit drastic, don't you think   ? And :  if none of the above fix the problem,   somebody else might come up with the perfect solution   !

Right-click on the player. What type is it? HTML5, flash . . . . . .

Make sure your Flash Player is up to date. Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Flash Player Version: 25.0.0.171

In addition to the above   (as YouTube uses HTML5 when possible):

Would you go to this test page and see which are checked :

I have an issue with you tube, too. Do not know where to post this question/problem. As all with firefox, its all too complicated for me.

I have clicked the link provided above https://www.youtube.com/html5 and in red are H 265 and WebMVP8. All other boxes are in blue and checked. My OS is Windows Vista. I had been able to view youtube nearly trouble free for many months (using firefox) until yesterday. The screen is black with a message about html5 and then goes to a screen message that says "if player doesn't start, restart device..."

I have opened and read thru links provided above and I have tried to update my adobe but my windows manager continues to block any updates. I have tried to install the Platform Update for WIndows Supplement but so far no luck.

My computer skills are limited:) I can follow easy instructions but don't understand most of what I'm doing - and then basically lost as to what to do when things fail.

Sorry this is so wordy. I don't even know where to post this so I'll just post it here...thanks. Please help me...
