hi! I had this problem like 3 weeks ago, my problem is that some unknown webpages get launched just by themselves on firefox even though firefox app isn't running ( I'm on windows by the way) I've read some posts on this forum that suggested to use some malware removing software and I've used like adwcleaner, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware ,TDSSKILLER, but still ,I have the same problem ; There were like two websites that I've become familiar with like this one "takeofftv.su/awesomes" ,,, and recently I've noticed a new URL : " http://wonderlandads.com/afu.php?zoneid=184394" ; when I uninstall firefox it doesn't happen ! I'm really a fan of Firefox and now I'm stuck with using chrome (it's good but doesn't apply to my needs) so please help me with this, I'd really apreciate it. Thanks.

What's your computer system and Firefox version?

Are you saying that Firefox is NOT running, then starts on its own?

Assuming you are using Windows; You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Does it has effect if you set another browser as the default browser in case Firefox currently is the default browser?

As I mentioned I've used most of them except that MS safety scanner that I did try but it was taking so long and also a lot of CPU power so I canceled it .

Firefox would start with those pages ( by the way, here are the links I've talked about: " http://www.search-man.org/homes " and " http://www.takeofftv.su/awesomes " ) even if I'm using Chrome as a default browser. it doesn't appear only when uninstalled.

Open the Windows Task Manager. Look for anything that you don't know what it is.

Check the programs that are on your computer

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the "Applications" folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Go thru the list. If you find something that you don't know what it is, use a web search.

You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

Ok thanks for your last 2 responses FredMcD & cor-el , but I think the problem was just solved yesterday when I used Malwarebyte Anti-Malware after upgrading it to the latest virsion and updating its database definition. I've used it only in trial version but I guess it has done the job. feeling really Great!

Most of those type programs are free to use (the paid version has more options) but before using them you need to Check For Updates FIRST ! !
