i've had the same problem for almost a year now and can't seem to find an answer. does mozilla give a rusty rat's hindquarters that their products suck? my issue is at least 100 inactive tabs continue to open every time i try to open firefox. i've trashed it and redownloaded - and still the same thing happens. even had the genius bar try to assist. they couldn't figure it out.

mozilla...are you there? mozilla? mozilla?

Hi

I think that somewhere in your original post was a question about a number of tabs opening when you open Firefox.

We might be able to help you with this, but it would help us to help you if you can advise a) what version number of Firefox you are using b) what operating system (and version number) you are using c) details of any add-ons you have installed.

You can check for problems with the sessionstore.js file in the profile folder that stores session data. When sessionstore.js is deleted you lose pinned tabs and Tab Groups and open tabs and you will have to recreate them, so if necessary make a note or bookmark them.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:

I have the latest version of Firefox because I trashed the old ones and reinstalled. I also have the latest updates of Mac Yosemite. 10.10.5.

This is completely useless when you have a real problem. People posting random and obvious suggestions isn't problem solving. You're forcing people to use other browsers because you make no serious attempt to provide technical support.

Open tabs are stored in the sessionstore.js file in the Firefox profile folder. If tabs open on startup then either there is a problem with this file or you have set all those pages as multiple home pages.

Did you try to delete the sessionstore.js file? You need to close the Firefox application to make this work.

You can check the home page setting.

Firefox supports multiple home pages separated by '|' (pipe) symbols.

You can create a new profile to test if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

just takes way too much time to fix...not worth the time. every "solution" is nothing but a new problem. it's like a second career.
