When I click on links on websites that will open a new page firefox keeps rerouting and often ends in a can't find server message or a DNS solution yahoo search?

Is there a setting I need to change to fix this issue? Thanks!

Try to disable IPv6 (check for other possible causes as well).

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the Cache and remove the Cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the Cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Thank you very much for your reply. Unfortunately none of these steps have solved the issue. I may just try completely uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox otherwise I will have to switch browers :(

What link are you trying to open, and where do you end up?

It happens when I am in a site and trying to access another page. For example I was on Ikea.ca and tried to go to childrens furniture and the following window opened (see attached). I did try to uninstall and reinstall firefox but it is still happening.

Thank you for your help!

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
