Why can't I disable/change the fullscreen message?

Hello everyone!

Well first of all thanks for your daily work on firefox, or better said the mozilla community! I've updated this week to FF 42 which re-enables the pre-disabled (by myself) message on fullscreen videos.

So I've started to search about it, why I can no longer disable this message. After a short research I found the nearest reason: pishing, or better said website rendering (so entering passwords or credit card details into a fake shown homepage). So all clear, but I've started to think a bit about that. I'll be glad if you/someone could answer my questions about that:

- Why do you take this decision away from me? Why can't I decide by myself, that I want to browse in a unsafe or possible unsafe way with the firefox?

- When I change settings in the about:config section I get prompted with a message like "Attention, changes made here could possible generating security Issues / be aware from the great wolf in the forest / boo boo.. (you get it)" and then I confirm that. Isn't that already a confess, that I must be alerted by myself when browsing with my own settings?

- I get it, that a notification for fullscreen is needed, but why can't I change this notification at all? Size, Showtime, Position, Color - are those no options that users can make?

- Are there any thoughts about that in the next version of Firefox?

So these were my questions (I know, they're a bit silly, caused by a rectangular box who disappears...), I'll be very happy to get those answered.

Hi jscher2000, thanks for your answer!

About your question: no I'm not familiar with those style rules, or better I wasn't ;-) I added stylish and entered the posted style to disable the fullscreen message and voilà: it worked! So thanks to that, and the possible feature in FF 43 will be great. So I'm feeling a bit self-determined with that.

Your wish might be coming true, sort of.

In Firefox 43 (currently in beta testing), there will be a new preference you could modify:

full-screen-api.warning.timeout => 3000

Setting that to 0 (zero milliseconds) will disable the message.

However, beta code is subject to change, so... please don't quote me on it.

If you are interested in experimenting with some custom style rules, this one will shrink the box and move it to the upper left corner. Possibly results may vary depending on your screen resolution:

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);   #full-screen-warning-container {     transform: scale(0.4, 0.4) !important;     width: 300px;     height: 50px;   }

Or to just hide the thing completely, since it tells you information you obviously know by now:

@namespace url(http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul);   #full-screen-warning-container {     display:none !important;   }

You can apply custom style rules to Firefox's interface using either the Stylish extension or a userChrome.css file. Are you familiar with either of those?
