I've got a cache problem that's probably a simple fix but driving me crazy, I open a browser, any browser like firefox or internet explorer etc.. and all have the same problem, first time it searches fine, and any more searches on that same page work fine, but if i open a new tab or close and reopen the browser i get no search results at all unless i clear the cache only for firefox or the temporary internet files and website file option in internet explorer, then click home page and i can search again, but opening a new tab or closing and reopening browser causes same issue to return every time. i have tried everything from flushing dns and renew and release ect. to reinstalling browsers and i even reinstalled windows in the end :( but even then with nothing installed but windows and basic motherboard drivers installed it still did it, the only other thing i had installed was avg zen which i now removed and use avira instead. i have also checked for disk errors and memory errors.. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Just like to let you know I've solved the problem, turns out it was avg zen that caused a browser theme patching problem and when i removed zen it stayed in avg pc tuneup utilities settings/folders. bleepingcomputer.com helped me sort it. many thanks for your time an efforts in helping me get to the bottom of this, i reinstalled my entire operating system to fix it only to put avg zen back on first and recreate the same issue from getgo :S Again thanks for all your help.

Drew.

You are saying that this happens with all your browsers. That means the problem is something in the computer.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Some protection programs are known to cause issues. As a test, disable them.

You may have ad / mal-ware. Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Run most or all of the listed malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.

Hi Fred, thanks for your time, I started the computer in safe mode and the problem was still there but much less often, as in i could close the browser and reopen and it would work without clearing cache, and it worked much more often with opening new tabs and opening and closing pages, but the problem still happened 1 in 10 times instead of every time. also the problem still happens with protection programs disabled. and i ran malware scans with malware bytes, avira, TDSSKiller, superantiespyware, adwcleaner and microsoft safety scanner and no threats found.

The fact it happened much less often is safe mode must mean something? thanks again.

Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes). If the problem goes away, that tells us one thing. If it does not, that tells us something else.

Type about:preferences#advanced<Enter> in the address bar.

Under Advanced, Select General. Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration. Then Restart Firefox.

Poke around safe web sites. Are there any problems?
