Having more than one version of a program may cause issues. You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.

Note: Edge on Win10 does not use ActiveX version but its own Flash.

Nope sorry, it still doesn't work. This only started about 10 days ago so were there any upgrades around that time for Firefox.

Open the Add-ons Manager. Locate the add-on and press the Options button. Select All of the tests. Then press Execute on the bottom.

If you opened the page via the about:newtab page then this is normal behavior. You can't return to some built-in about pages via the back button for security reasons. You would have to open the link in a new tab with a middle-click or the right-click context menu.

When I open a new tab it opens to the homepage I have selected. If I then navigate to say facebook and try and navigate backwards to my home page it won't allow it, only to the facebook page.

Yes, the way the new tab page code works, you cannot go back either to Firefox's built-in new tab page or to a page you substitute for it.

Since it's your home page, you can use the usual methods to return to your home page:

• click the Home button on the toolbar
• press Alt+Home on the keyboard

Or you could try a different extension for the new tab page to see whether that solves it. For example:

After installing it, you need to use its Options page to set the desired new tab page (instead of using about:config).

Open the Add-ons page using either:

• Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Cmd+Shift+a)
• "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side, find Custom New Tab and click its Options button.

Entering your preferred home page address is simple. If you do not check either of the boxes, the extension will set the focus in the page so, for example, the cursor will be in the Google search box. (See screen shot attached.)

I had to exit Firefox and start it up again before Custom New Tab started working, but this may have been due to testing so many extensions back-to-back.

Thank you. I'll be trying out some other browsers now as I really don't like this new way of doing things.

Why are we even talking about tabs? What difference or relevance does this have to using the back arrow to return to, say search results of which you choose to look at one site, and now want to back arrow to return to your search results? Most people have several tabs open in a browser, and tabs have NOTHING to do with back or forward arrowing.

Basically, Firefox is messed up, and it has gotten to the point that I won't be using it either. It stops scrolling. You can't click on clickable choices, as they won't work half the time. Who needs this nonsense?
