Hello,

The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.

Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.

To Refresh Firefox:

  1. Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
    • Click the menu button New Fx Menu, click help Help-29 and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
    • If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
  2. At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
  3. Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
  4. Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.

Did this fix the problem? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

Does it mention the name of the script?

Does the name of the script mention a chrome URL that could indicate a problem with an extension or internal Firefox code?

Since the recent fix - version 39.0 - FF locks up and eventually responds with the above error message. Never had this before Version 39.0.

It's quite irritating as it forces me to use Chrome for the browser which doesn't support many of the apps I use with FF. To get FF working again and hopefully retrieve all the web sites I had open, my only recourse is to open Win 8.l Task Manager and delete FF. Then I reopen FF and hope all is functioning. Doesn't take long, however, for the error to return.

I suspect you broke something in the latest version which was fine before ver 39.0 (except for some issue I was experiencing with crashing my Win 8.1 operating system when attempting to create a new folder on a local hard drive from the download feature in FF). You fixed those issues and now this new set of conditions with FF not responding, locking up, and then after about ten minutes producing the error message above

I have the latest Version of FF, it Updated itself 3 days ago which is when 2 days before the problem started, I have tried every solution on this page FROM 2 YEARS AGO which is the only solutions i could find which is what my other 3 posts about this particular issue are about except for using another Browser because I have this funny thing where if i could find another Browser that would work we wouldn't be having this conversation. I can't find any other suggestions other than Refresh which doesn't work, that's the problem.

Hi AngieMe, I gave you a different suggestion in your thread over here: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1077816#answer-767634

Hi photomarkingusa, unfortunately, the location of the script was so long that the middle was ... and we can't say for sure what it is. But based on searches of similar messages, it probably was caused by the Skype Click to Call extension. I say "was" because that extension stopped working in Firefox 40 and should not bother you any more.

The problem started After Firefox updated to 40 which was just a couple of days ago. I have been trying to find the update so I can delete it but the record seems to have dissapeared when I Refreshed Firefox.

Hi AngieMe, updates are applied to the main program folder that held the previous version files. There's no separate place to remove an update.
