Can't open new Windows in FF on my new 2015 Macbook 12in. Only tabs. Redownloaded Firefox fr Safari, but still won't work on OX 10.10.3 Preferences won't open
Just got my new Macbook 12in 2015 and migrated all my files, but no apps. So I reinstalled Firefox for Mac on this new laptop thru Safari. It opened right up and had all of my info saved - history, bkmarks, etc - which was great. But I can only get it to open new Tabs. It will not open up a New Window from the file menu, or the shortcut.
I reinstalled another dmg of Firefox thru Safari, but now the Preferences also won't open. Nor New Windows again.
I've been using Firefox for years and don't know how to migrate all my info from FF into Safari to be able to use New Windows in that program. Please help : ) Carolyn

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Thank you so much Fred. It did work. One time. But when I force quit & restarted Firefox on my Macbook again - the normal way (no Option), it went back to not opening a New Window : (

AH I JUST DID A REFRESH STARTING IT WITH THE OPTION KEY & NOW IT SEEMS TO BE WORKING GREAT! THANKS AGAIN FRED!! : )
Note that your System Details list shows that you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time Firefox starts. The user.js file is only present if you or other software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be there.
You can check its content with a plain text editor (right-click: "Open with"; do not double-click). The user.js file is read each time Firefox is started and initializes preferences to the value specified in this file, so preferences set via user.js can only be changed temporarily for the current session.
You can delete the user.js file if you didn't create this file yourself.
