Can't install Adblock Plus on Firefox 38.0esr (Centos 5.11)
When I attempt to install Adblock Plus from either the addons site or from file, it fails to install. The about:addons page shows Adblock Plus being installed. However, there is no progress on the progress bar and it never installs.
I can continue to browse normally. When I attempt to exit Firefox, the window disappears, but the Firefox process remains for around 30 seconds until Firefox appears to kill its own process due to a condition taking too long.
I also can't install the uBlock addon. However, I can install other addons. Aside from the addon installation issue, I appear to have an issue downloading some files. I don't have a lot of information about this right now.
I've tried reinstalling Firefox, including deleting the profile directories and using a new profile, but that had no effect.

Try this version: https://addons.mozilla.org/En-us/fire.../adblock-plus/ That version is not signed and may have been tampered with.
First try this before reinstalling: Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

You can also perhaps get help with Extensions not installing at the addons.mozilla.org support forum which is https://forums.mozilla.org/
It is possible that there is a problem with the file(s) that store the extensions registry.
Delete the extensions.* files (e.g. extensions.json, extensions.sqlite, extensions.ini) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox profile folder to reset the extensions registry.
New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled or not compatible extensions in "Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the Tools button at the left end of the Search bar to check if there is a compatibility update available.
If this hasn't helped then also delete possible addons.json and addons.sqlite files.
